Keyhole DayZ is the only permanent night time Namalsk server with special features to make playing at night accessible and fun, even when you aren't geared up. We also have administration tools that have been developed in-house and that are some of the most advanced available. You can find it at 64.94.101.117, port 2302, or by searching for "Keyhole Development" in your favourite launcher.

For server status updates, follow our Twitter feed.

Our TeamSpeak 3 server is at keyholedayz.com (default port, and no password).

Features

Permanent Night Time Everything about the Namalsk map is designed for night time. The mere existence of permanent day time Namalsk servers is a high crime.

Night Time Lighting Despite the permanent night time, the server isn't dark, and we don't rely on moonlight. When you spawn in you'll always be able to see the bellowing fires that light up the open areas. In the main city, Vorkuta, floating alien lights circle the city and keep it very well lit. Lights also circle the Old Hospital, Object A2, and Sebjan Army base. We've also left a few areas dark to explore with some of the 30 road flares you spawn in with.

300 Vehicles There are 300 vehicles, including many helicopters. Don't expect to be finding them all fully fixed and fueled though; you'll need loot to get many of them going. You'll also be learning the art of flying a helicopter at night, usually without night vision goggles.

Refueling at Petrol Stations You can drive or land next to a petrol tank and refuel by selecting the appropriate action menu item. We think this takes the tedium out of refueling without removing the risk; unlike some other maps our refueling takes several minutes. You'll still be sniper bait, and you won't be able to get out and hide.

Better Food Cans of food give you 2000 blood, and if you actually manage to hunt down some meat it gives you 6000 blood. We've done this because hunting is almost impossible at night, and playing solo or being separated from your group is already difficult with blowouts turned on.

No Fog or Overcast Fog and clouds are turned off. The night sky is always visible.

Vehicles with Loot Most vehicles spawn in with loot. The larger or more fancy the vehicle, the better the loot. We do this to try to discourage people needlessly destroying vehicles on sight.

Keyhole Administration Tools Most administrators are frustrated that scripters have far more control of their server than they do. That isn't the case with us. We control things through the server itself, so BattlEye runs as normal.

Administrators

ianbanks set the server up and does the programming. Babyface, grim, peter, really and zesusx are administrators and are often watching the server chat and administration tools (even if you don't see them in the game).

The administrators have far more power to control the server than most over DayZ servers, but they aren't allowed to use it to influence the game or assist themselves in playing the game. They also don't want any special treatment. If your regular greeting is a spray of bullets, we'll be upset if we meet you and don't get it. We started the server to play on the kind of DayZ server we wanted to play on, not to abuse administration tools or become a cult of personality.

If you've had any issues please feel free to drop on to the team speak server and privately message ianbanks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I get Namalsk? You need Namalsk 0.72 to play on the server, and the quickest way to get it is with DayZ Commander.

Are there really 300 vehicles? Yes. They tend to migrate away from spawn points though.

What happens with vehicles on a reset? If you exited a vehicle it should be saved. Fully destroyed vehicles with no inventory (other than the loot they spawn with and a few other non-valuable items) are deleted and respawned at their original spawn locations. We use a custom spawning application to ensure that all vehicle spawns are used each time, not just a random subset. With this process, typically anywhere from 10 to 80 vehicles are respawned each restart.
